Operation COBRA was the push out of the Normandy bocage area that was causing heavy casualties on the Allies following the Normandy landings. It involved a spearhead of the 4th, 9th, and 30th Infantry Divisions and an exploitation force of the 2nd and 3rd Armored Divisions.
